Saiful Bouquet provided structural engineering services for the new two-story, 62,000 square-foot Student Services Building at Antelope Valley College (AVC). The Student Services Building is designed to be a central hub, consolidating essential resources to support the AVC student body. This unified facility improves student access to services, enhancing the overall college experience and administrative efficiency.
The structural design incorporates a robust system tailored to the building’s architectural and functional requirements, featuring two large tapered canopies at each entrance, an exterior monument sign, and a prominent interior social stair. The design includes two pedestrian walkway bridges that connect separate spaces on the second floor, optimizing circulation. For lateral load resistance, the building employs a high-performance system consisting of steel special moment frames and steel eccentric braced frames. The modern exterior façade is completed with a mixture of sleek curtain wall and durable metal panel cladding.
The new Student Services Building provides Antelope Valley College with a modern, resilient, and consolidated facility that is essential to supporting its mission and student success for years to come.
