Saiful Bouquet is the structural engineer for the Irvine Valley College Life Sciences Building in Irvine, California. The new building provides the campus with a 30,000 sq. ft. classroom facility and laboratory space on a compact site between aging academic buildings and a residential neighborhood. SB worked closely with the team on the structural design – EBF for the lateral system and structural steel with a concrete/metal deck.

The building is a gathering place for all students and faculty members to participate in scientific studies and experimentation with state-of-the-art amenities. The open atrium linking the outdoor and indoor learning environments also promotes student exchange and exploration.The project is designed to the level of LEED Gold with indigenous planting that surrounds the building and assists in reducing water consumption.
