Saiful Bouquet is providing structural engineering services for the new $47M 3-story Santa Ana STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) building. The new 65,428 gsf building consists of Teaching Labs, Faculty Offices, and Research Labs for the biology, chemistry, geology, and physics academic programs. The building will be a modern instructional facility, providing state of the art science labs and classrooms supporting innovations in STEM fields.
Special structure dynamic pertaining to foot-fall induced vibrations are required for the biology labs at the second floor slab. A maximum vibration velocity of 2,000 micro-inch per second (mips) measured on top of the structural floor lab (for moderate pace walking) was set as the limit for those spaces.
