Saiful Bouquet was retained after the Schematic Design was completed by another structural engineer to develop alternative structural system to reduce the cost.  Within a couple of weeks, SB had developed 3 different alternative schemes, each with pros and cons.  An eccentric braced frame (EBF) scheme was finally selected for cost and seismic performance considerations.  SB then delivered a very efficient framing system resulting in an additional 1.5 million dollars of saving in steel (13.8 psf of steel) over that developed by others during the schematic design phase.  SB completed the Construction Documents on a very tight schedule (4 months) in order to have the mill order ready at early stages of design (Architectural drawings being at Design Development level), requiring a very aggressive coordination strategy.
