Saiful Bouquet provided full structural design services for the proposed 11-story San Diego Tech Center.  The 330,000sf building was designed to house high tech office occupancy with ground floor retail and a rooftop amenities deck with a long cantilevered canopy.  The first of the planned two towers was designed to a Plan Check level, but did not go forward.

The building’s seismic system consists of steel eccentric braced frames (EBF) at the building’s core and special moment resisting frames (SMRF) around the perimeter. The gravity system includes concrete slabs on metal deck over composite steel beams supported by steel columns, over a spread footing foundation.  The total steel tonnage for the 11 story office building was only 12 psf.
