Completed in 2025, Phase 2 of the modernization is a new 22,906-square-foot, two-story Instructional Building at the southern edge of the campus. Designed to support 21st-century learning, this modern facility features 10 versatile classrooms dedicated to science, special education, childcare development, and general study. Its design incorporates CMU load-bearing walls and structural steel framing, seamlessly blending with existing campus structures to preserve their historical character.
This new instructional building represents a key milestone within the broader, comprehensive modernization of LAUSD’s John F. Kennedy High School. Spanning the 27.4-acre campus, the broader project also includes extensive seismic retrofitting across numerous existing structures to meet modern safety standards while maintaining historical integrity.
