The new 57,000 gsf Biological Sciences Building constructed for the University of California at Riverside is a 3-story structure that houses university laboratories which must adhere to very strict vibration criterion.  In addition to the new labs, the project also includes administrative office spaces and classrooms for the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience. The building provides modern research laboratories as well as laboratory support to accommodate 22 existing and new faculty/student research teams. A Biosafety Level 3 suite, faculty offices and meeting rooms is available for Biochemistry, Biology, Botany & Plant Sciences, Cell Biology and the Neurosciences Departments.

Saiful Bouquet was the structural engineer and designed the new facility as a concrete structure with concrete flat slab floor system. The seismic bracing system consists of a combination of interior and perimeter concrete shear walls.
